Tell an interview case honestly
A strong example does not need an invented rescue.
Before you use it
- Use when
- An interview or review asks for a concrete example of your work.
An idea to explore.

A template to use
Situation and constraint: ___. My responsibility: ___. Action and the reason for choosing it: ___. Result, evidence and remaining limitation: ___. What I would transfer to another case: ___.
Why it matters
Give enough context to understand the problem, then state your responsibility, the choice you made and the result you can support. Use “I” for your own contribution and “we” for shared work. An unfinished project can still supply a real example: describe the verified milestone and leave the expected final benefit labelled as an expectation.
An example
You wrote the acceptance checks; the team delivered the migration. Staging passed, but the customer impact has not yet been measured.
Check your result
Can a listener separate your contribution, the team’s work and the result actually observed?
Keep this limit in mind
- An expected benefit is not a measured result. Remove confidential identifiers and never invent a number to make the story sound stronger.
